Carne Asada Recipe

Carne Asada is a dish of sliced beef, dipped in a marinade or rub and grilled to achieve a charred flavor. We worked with culinary experts to get the perfect balance of citrus, garlic, and spices for our authentic Pep & Zip® Carne Asada seasoning.

Ingredients

  • 1 tbsp Pep & Zip® Carne Asada Seasoning
  • ½ cup fresh lime juice
  • 1 tbsp any vegetable oil
  • 1 lb Beef flank steaks

Preparation

  • Mix our Carne Asada seasoning with the lime juice and oil to create a paste
  • Trim the flank steak of any excess fat or silver skin (the whiteish membrane that may be covering parts of the steak)
  • Apply the paste evenly all over both sides of the flank steak and place in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes, up to overnight
  • Scrape off as much marinade paste as possible from the surface of the steak to prevent burning during cooking. This marinade should be discarded as it has been in contact with raw beef and should not be eaten
  • Grill the steak to desired degree of cooking; medium-rare is recommended to help keep the steak tender and will take 4–5 minutes per side depending on thickness
  • Slice the steak thinly across the grain and serve in tacos, burritos, or use in Southwestern style salads
